Tips to Help You Complete Your ID Verification Successfully

Updated this week

To keep your account safe and compliant, Raenest requires all users to verify their identity. This involves uploading a valid ID and completing a short face capture. To make sure your verification goes through without delays or rejection, here are some important things to keep in mind:

Use a valid ID

Make sure the document you upload (international passport, national ID, NIN card, or driver’s licence) is not expired. Expired documents will be rejected.

Don’t use a photocopy or screenshot

We only accept photos or scans of the original physical ID. Do not upload:

  • A photocopy of the document

  • A digital scan saved as a soft copy (e.g. PDF or screenshot)

  • A photo of a screen showing your ID

Take a direct photo of your actual ID card or passport.

Ensure proper lighting

Take the photo of your ID in a well-lit space. Avoid:

  • Shadows or glares over any part of the ID

  • Photos taken in the dark or with a flashlight

  • Overexposed or washed-out images

All the information on the ID should be clearly visible.

Keep your selfie sharp and clear

As part of the verification process, you’ll be asked to take a selfie and complete a liveness check. To ensure success:

  • Hold your phone steady

  • Look directly into the camera

  • Make sure your face is fully in frame

  • Avoid blurry or low-light selfies

Complete the liveness check

Follow all the prompts during the liveness capture, this may include blinking, turning your head, or smiling. Avoid wearing:

  • Sunglasses

  • Face masks

  • Hats or anything that blocks your face

We use this to confirm that the person submitting the ID is the same person in the selfie, and that it’s a real, live person.

Taking a few extra seconds to double-check these details will help your verification go through smoothly. If your submission fails, you may be asked to try again with the correct information or your ID will be rejected.
