What is Contract or Payment Evidence and Why Do We Ask for It?

Updated yesterday

When signing up on Raenest as a freelancer, you’ll be asked to share details about your source of income. If you’re not working through platforms like Upwork or Fiverr, you can select “Other Employer” under your employment details.

When you choose this option, you’ll be asked to upload a contract or payment evidence — a document that shows you’ve worked for a client and received payment.

Why do we ask for this?

Freelancers often work directly with clients outside of marketplaces. To verify that you have a legitimate source of income, we’ll ask you to upload a document that shows proof of work or payment from a client. This step helps us:

  • Confirm your income as a freelancer

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations

  • Continue your onboarding smoothly

What documents can you upload?

You can provide any of the following as contract or payment evidence:

  • Signed contract with a client

  • Paid invoice showing services rendered and payment received

  • Bank statement reflecting the payment from a client

  • Receipt or other official proof of payment

Tips for a smooth process

  • Make sure the document clearly shows your name and the client’s name

  • Ensure the payment details (amount, date) are visible

  • Upload the document as a clear PDF, JPG, or PNG file

Once uploaded, this evidence will be reviewed as part of your earnings information step.
